Our Rust Treatments - Using the Award Winning Rustbuster Products
Director Arwyn Jones has a lifelong passion for classic and vintage vehicles from the 1920's through to modern classics.
Operating a small fleet of vintage wedding cars, I wanted to ensure they continued to look their best and were fully protected from the dreaded "tin worm".
After researching several products and systems I concluded that Rustbuster's rust treatment & products were the way to go. Their products have been winning awards for twenty years in the automotive restoration and maintenace media. From the Rustbuster Epoxy Mastic 121 to the Rustbuster FE-123 rust converter primer winning the 2011 Practical Classics real time rust converter test.
The Rustbuster system as used by AJ Rust Protection, uses a comprehensive process of vehicle assessment, cleaning, surface preparation, rust treatment and finally surface protection.
The surface protection preferred by AJ Rust Protection is the Corrolan range of sustainable rust proofing products. Derived from the natural lanolin from sheep wool. The product is far more environmentally friendly and resilient than petroleum based waxes and will give you confidence that your vehicle is protected from moisture and abrasion that can lead to rust deterioration.

VEHICLE ASSESSMENT
Attention to Detail
During the booking process we gather information about the condition of the vehicle. On arrival at the workshop we we inspect the underside and plan the treatment, removing any plastic undertrays to improve access.
Note - we do not undertake welding / body repairs and any significant areas of corrosion that would require welding repair will not be treated and will be left so that the customer can have the repairs done. If there is extensive corrosion that requires welding we will not be able to undertake the treatment.
At all stages we will liaise with you as the customer.
FULL UNDERBODY AND CAVITY PROTECTION
Always Prepared
Once cleaned and dried the underbody cavities, box sections, and wheel arches are treated with Corrolan Active hot fog was to reach and protect the less accessible areas of the vehicle. Once completed the remainder of the vehicle underside is treated with a coating of Corrolan Pure high build wax.
Doors, and door pillars are internally treated with Corrolan Active hot-fog wax to ensure complete protection and peace of mind.
The waxes are applied hot and at 80psi. This causes the wax to deposit as a light brown / toffee colour. However the waxes are naturally a translucent honey brown colour and over a period of a few days / weeks, the wax will revert to its natural translucency so that you can see the original underbody colours. The beauty of this is that no rust is being hidden under a black coating, so you can monitor the effectiveness of the treatment.

No amount of waxing will prevent rust getting a hold unless the surfaces are carefully prepared.
Using Rustbuster Ltd's tried and tested system and their award winning products we take the time to ensure any rusted surfaces are cleaned of any loose material and prepared using MBX wire brush equipment. The surfaces are then treated with FE-123 and left to react to a stable iron tannate surface. Only when we are satisfied that this is ready will we then proceed to the next stage of applying Corrolan waxes.
